Echoes of Idealized Female Form
2023
Echoes of Idealized Female Form seeks to redefine classical ideals of beauty by showcasing diverse women in black-and-white photography. The project aims to engage viewers in questioning historical beauty standards and broadening the concept of femininity to reflect universal human experiences. Delving into the aesthetics of traditional art, Anna-Maria Vaskovskaja explores and expands beauty norms, while also challenging them by revealing societal and personal barriers that hinder full self-acceptance. The artist invites viewers to reassess their ideals of beauty and encourages self-reflection.
The project was part of “The Body”, a group exhibition at Gallery Seek, curated by Annika Haas and organised by the Photography Museum in Tallinn.
The exhibition ran from 6 June to 30 September 2024.
